Senior People Partner — Operations & HRBP
Be sunday’s trusted People partner, shaping manager support and employee experience while owning compliant HR operations across France and the UK as we grow.
👋 About Us
sunday is building the fastest, simplest way to pay in restaurants. With a quick scan of a QR code, diners can pay, tip, and leave in about 10 seconds. We believe great products should feel obvious, not complicated, and we focus relentlessly on keeping things simple while earning trust from restaurants and guests at every interaction. Today, sunday powers payments in thousands of restaurants across the US, UK, and France, helping operators turn tables faster, increase tips, and unlock valuable insights. We push ourselves to go beyond what’s expected, building with ownership, moving fast, and scaling with ambition as we tackle our biggest growth opportunity in the US.
About the Role
We’re looking for an experienced People professional to be the go-to HR partner for our teams. You’ll combine two roles. As an HR Business Partner, you’ll advise managers and leaders on organisation, performance, employee relations and talent. As the owner of People Operations in France and the UK, you’ll make sure processes, compliance and the employee experience run smoothly as we scale.
This is a senior individual contributor role with real autonomy. You’ll report to the Head of People and work closely with Finance, Legal and business leaders.
Right to work in France required.
Join early, grow fast, and shape the journey!
Key Responsibilities
HR Business Partnering
Act as a trusted partner to managers and leaders: coach them on people management, performance, feedback and difficult conversations.
Handle employee relations end to end, including sensitive cases (disciplinary procedures, terminations, ruptures conventionnelles, conflicts, investigations), in line with French labour law.
Support organisational changes, team restructurings and workforce planning with business leaders.
Lead or contribute to the key People cycles: performance reviews, calibrations, compensation reviews, promotions and career frameworks.
Use data (attrition, engagement, headcount) to spot risks and recommend actions.
People Operations (France and UK)
Own the full employee lifecycle: contracts, amendments, onboarding, mobility, leave and offboarding.
Supervise monthly payroll with our external provider and Finance, and make sure it’s accurate and compliant.
Manage French benefits and compensation schemes (health insurance, meal vouchers, RTT, profit-sharing or bonus schemes, equity administration).
Ensure legal compliance: labour law watch, mandatory obligations, company policies.
Keep HiBob as the single source of truth, and improve or automate processes (HiBob, Notion, Slack, AI tools).
Coach and review the work of junior team members or interns when relevant.
About You
5+ years in HR, with significant experience as an HRBP and/or HR generalist in France, ideally in a scale-up or tech environment.
Strong command of French labour law and HR administration (contracts, payroll, leave, terminations), with confidence handling sensitive situations independently.
A proven ability to advise and challenge managers and leaders, with sound judgement and a pragmatic, business-oriented approach.
High standards for accuracy, confidentiality and compliance.
Fluent French and professional English, written and spoken.
Comfortable with HRIS and data: HiBob or similar, spreadsheets, basic reporting
